How did you become interested in Engineering?

I have always watched and learned from other people showing me how to make something work and move. I really am inquisitive about how things work.

What attracted you to this industry?

I am very interested in seeing how things work and move. This industry’s culture allowed me to do that.

What traits do you have that help you succeed in your role?

I believe that listening is the most important skill, so you don’t overlook what someone is trying to communicate. Being fanatical in working with and servicing customer needs. I believe I have empathy and the desire to help one in achieving one’s goals and needs. In this culture being trustworthy, honest, reliable, and punctual greatly helps one to succeed.

When you’re working with clients, how do you help them identify and solve the problems that they’re facing?

I enjoy being face-to-face with customers and listening to their needs. Over the years, I’ve had the chance to walk through plants and facilities, listening and seeing firsthand what customers need and how they picture their future operations. Being trusted to help make that vision a reality is something I really enjoy.

What’s the most important thing you’ve learned while working for the Standard Electric family of companies?

The culture has created teamwork and working together to achieve exceptional service with fellow associates for our customers.

What kinds of things do you like to do outside of work?

I like to go fishing, hunting, snowshoeing, and hiking. My family has been going to State Parks and National Parks for years, and a goal has been to visit all of them. We have almost finished the State Parks.

What’s something most people don’t know about you?

I am a Level 50 Pokémon Go Trainer. I did this to spend extra time with my kids when they got older and had fun doing it. Go Team Instinct.
