Meet… Krzysztof John! Krzysztof is an Application Engineer with SE Automation. He works out of our Milwaukee, WI location. Get to know Krzysztof!
What is your role and what do you specialize in?
I am an Application Engineer with the SE Automation team. In my role, I provide technical support and training for customers and our sales group. And I specialize in Siemens industrial automation products which includes PLCs, HMIs, VFDs and motion.
How did you become interested in Engineering?
When I was a kid, I saw a technician repairing our broken TV. I saw him navigating between all those circuit boards and getting it fixed. It looked like a magic. I knew I wanted to be able to repair stuff like he did, so when the time came to pick a high school, I picked one with the electrical profile. Becoming an engineer was just the next step in this adventure.
What attracted you to this industry?
While working in the past as a systems engineer, I enjoyed the programming and troubleshooting aspect of my work. Working for an Electrical Distributor and representing Siemens gives me the opportunity to work with and learn some of the latest technology as well I share my knowledge with other people.
What traits do you have that help you succeed in your role?
Patience and persistence.
When you’re working with clients, how do you help them identify and solve the problems that they’re facing?
Mostly by listening and engaging them in a discussion. But also, by making them aware of available technical resources and application examples.
What’s the most important thing you’ve learned while working for the Standard Electric family of companies?
Since I’ve joined Standard Electric, I’ve learned many new things. This in fact is one of the main reasons I enjoy working here. But the most important thing I would say is how important the positive attitude is and how much depends on it.
What kinds of things do you like to do outside of work?
Any type of outdoor activities like biking, swimming, and hiking. Being a father of 3 boys doesn’t leave me with a lot of spare time, but the time I get, I love spending outdoors.
What’s something most people don’t know about you?
When I was younger, I loved playing music. The first instrument I learned to play was my dad’s accordion. It was almost bigger than me at the time.
