Meet… Todd Mogensen! Todd is an Application Engineer with SE Automation. He works out of our Appleton, WI location. Get to know Todd!
How did you become interested in Engineering?
Started as a child. I always wondered how and why things work and it just carried along from there. Just the way I’m wired. There is always a need to know and understand things around me. I’ve been working in automation for 31 years and have been supporting Siemens products for 26 of those years.
What attracted you to this industry?
The vastness of different projects I could be asked to work on.
What traits do you have that help you succeed in your role?
Persistence and a knack for solving problems.
When you’re working with clients, how do you help them identify and solve the problems that they’re facing?
I make sure to work WITH them as if it is truly my problem to solve. We will usually share ideas of what we both think and try that. If that doesn’t work, I will break it down methodically and stay on top of it until it does work.
What kind of work do you enjoy the most? What makes it rewarding?
I like helping customers with machine issues directly on site. Solving the problem, coming up with a solution that wasn’t thought of already makes this very enjoyable. To have the customer succeed by meeting a timeline, or fixing something that wasn’t working or was causing problems is fun and builds better relationships with our customers.
What kinds of things do you like to do outside of work?
I like to go north to my camp. I spend a lot of time up there with my friends and family. Along with that, hunting, boating, and snowmobiling are very high on my list.
Anything else you would like to tell us about yourself?
I’m a firm believer of when you are at work, you should be putting in 100% and doing the best job you can. On the flip side, when you aren’t at work, you should be doing the same for family, friends and yourself. A good balance helps keep ME excited and engaged in both directions.
